Kasym Tynystanov was a poet, folklorist, teacher, literary critic, translator, prominent statesman and, finally, the creator of the grammar of the Kyrgyz language and the founder of Kyrgyz literature.
Tynystanov developed the first Kyrgyz alphabet based on Arabic script, then took an active part in replacing it with Latin, and then Cyrillic.

His report entitled "The basic principles of creating a new alphabet" was the first scientific discovery in Kyrgyz linguistics.
In search of a suitable educational institution in September 1919, Kasym left Karakol on foot to Almaty, where he received a referral to study in Tashkent. In Tashkent, he entered the preparatory department of the Kazakh Institute of Education, lived in a hostel for visiting students.
Tynystanov's poems began to be published in the early 1920s in Kazakh newspapers published in Tashkent. The first poetry collection "Collection of poems by Kasym" was published in 1925 in Moscow. Kasym Tynystanov was the first among Kyrgyz writers who translated into Kyrgyz the party anthem "International" and the fables of I.A. Krylov.
Tynystanov together with his friends published the first issue of the party newspaper "Erkin-Too".
For the play "Academic Evenings" and other works, Tynystanov was unreasonably charged with nationalism, bourgeoisism. In 1937 he was arrested, and in 1938 he was shot. In 1988 , K.Tynystanov was fully rehabilitated.
