After the Soviet power was established on the territory of Kyrgyzstan, some Orthodox churches were destroyed or their buildings were used for other purposes.
The question of building the cathedral arose in 1943. The church was built on the site of the unfinished building of the Kipromsovet industrial facilitiy. Its construction at that time was blessed by Bishop Kirill of Tashkent and Central Asia. The reconstruction of the building took 3 years, and throughout this time the church services were held in the open air.

This cathedral was projected by the architects Veruzhskii and Nezhurin.
The Soviet government had closed many churches, but it was possible to preserve some of the icons which found refuge in the Holy Resurrection Cathedral. Some of these icons date back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The construction of the temple was completed in 1947, but it was restored, completed and changed more than once. Now a parish school has been opened at the church, which has been operating since 2007.
